As there is a strong emphasis of community in Krump, many dancers belong to Krump fams (families). Many fams have their own signs or gestures, in this case this a representation of the NYXX fam based in Auckland. Dancers may often use their fam signs throughout their round, to show where they are from and who they are representing. It is also a way for the dancer to connect with and draw energy from their fam in the session or battle.
